Abstract

This paper explores the transformative potential of integrated farming systems in strengthening national security and paving the way for a more secure and sustainable future. In an era marked by evolving global challenges, the interplay between agriculture, food security, and national security has gained significance. This paper proposes a unified framework that integrates these domains, addressing vulnerabilities at their roots. The purpose of this study is to comprehensively assess how integrated farming systems can contribute to economic resilience, environmental sustainability, food security, and social stability within a nation's security strategy. The design/methodology/approach involves a systematic analysis of existing literature, case studies, and theoretical frameworks related to resilience and complex systems. The findings affirm that integrated farming systems offer multi-dimensional benefits, aligning economic diversification, environmental stewardship, and social cohesion with national security goals. The conclusion restates the thesis in a new way, asserting that embracing integrated farming systems can enhance a nation's strategic prowess and contribute to a secure and sustainable future. A recommendation is provided for policymakers to incorporate integrated farming systems into their strategies, while acknowledging the limitation of contextual variations in their implementation. Overall, this study emphasizes the significance of a holistic approach to agriculture, food security, and national security, bridging gaps in the literature and offering actionable insights for policy and practice.
