ANALISIS PENGARUH PROSES AGING TERHADAP KADAR STABILIZER PROPELAN DOUBLE BASE MUNISI KALIBER KECIL

Nitrat Ester sebagai bahan utama propelan secara alamiah mengalami proses dekomposisi berkelanjutan (proses aging) yang menyebabkan perubahan karakteristik propelan. Proses dekomposisi tersebut tidak dapat dicegah dan hanya dapat diperlambat dengan penambahan stabilizer. Perubahan kadar stabilizer selama proses aging dapat digunakan sebagai indikator dari umur pakai propelan. Pada penelitian ini akan dikaji pengaruh proses aging terhadap perubahan kadar stabilizer pada propelan jenis double base. Metode Artificial Aging digunakan sebagai simulasi proses aging alamiah. Sampel propelan double base dengan stabilizer Diphenylamine (DPA), di-aging secara artificial pada suhu 800C, dengan waktu aging bervariasi (t25 = 0, 3, 6, 9, 12 dan 15 tahun). Perubahan kadar stabilizer dianalisa dengan alat HPLC. Berdasarkan hasil analisa, diketahui bahwa terjadi penurunan kadar DPA dari 0,496% (0 tahun) menjadi 0,166% (15 tahun), dan peningkatan kadar N-NO-DPA dari 0,381% (0 tahun) menjadi 0,565% (15 tahun). Secara keseluruhan, kadar stabilizer efektif dalam sampel propelan menurun sepanjang waktu aging. Hasil penelitian tersebut telah menjawab tujuan dari penelitian bahwa proses aging berpengaruh terhadap perubahan kadar stabilizer pada propelan. Penelitian lebih lanjut dengan waktu aging lebih lama serta analisa karakteristik lain selain kadar stabilizer sangat dibutuhkan.
